Marty Marrone: Marty spent 7 years touring with
Special Consensus, from
Chicago, and appeared on three
of their albums, one of which was nominated for a Grammy Award. Marty will
be found playing the six-string guitar in the best Flat-Picking style
interspersed with some hard-driving
Bluegrass rhythm guitar. He also carries
the majority of the band’s vocal chores singing soulful leads and high
harmonies. Marty and ex-Tangled Roots mandolin player
Chris Silver won the 2005 Minnesota Duet Championships held at the state
fair. In December of the same year he released a compilation CD of the tunes
he recorded with Special Consensus called “Seven Years with the Special
Consensus”. |

Chuck Millar: Chuck has a BA in Musical
Performance for the fiddle and is one of the top mandolin players in the
Upper Midwest. Chuck sings lead and harmony
and is also a wizard on guitar, banjo and bass as well. In addition to
teaching all of the instruments he plays he also
runs a music retail business on line at
www.stringsnthingsusa.com where he offers
instruments and accessories. Chuck has recently become the areas newest
authorized Martin Guitar dealer. |

David Tousley : In 2005 David Toured the US and
Canada with Nashville based bluegrass band Jimmy Bowen and Santa Fe. He
also appears on their latest CD
"Stone Fences". As a board member for MBOTMA, David helped established the
Minnesota Flatpicking Guitar and Duet Championships. He has been a
member of many regional bands including Free Range Pickin, Blue Wolf,
Bluedrifters, Jones Tones and Cam Waters just to name a few. David's
excellent sense of pitch, timing and dynamics are attributed to working with
multiple bands for many years. |

Heath Loy: Heath, a native Minnesotan who grew
up in the Rochester area, comes from a family of four generations of
fiddlers. At an early age Heath took up the 5-string banjo and has never
looked back. Heath spent most of his time growing up riding shotgun with his
dad to bluegrass festivals in Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. He started
playing with Becky Schlegel and True Blue in ’99 and while a member of that
band showcased at IBMA, and performed on “A Prairie Home Companion” . Heath
and Marty played for 2 years together in a local twin cities band called
American Heifer. Heath has often been referred to as the best hard driving
banjo player in the upper mid-west and also one of the best, kept secrets in
this bluegrass scene. The secret is out and he’s the newest member of
Tangled Roots!
